What do I have to do to keep plaque to a minimum?
...............................................................................................................................................
Our muscles ‘learn’ by repetition, so you need to establish an effective routine.
For example, when we learn to drive a car, we have to concentrate on teaching our feet to work the pedals. After we have done it for a while, the footwork becomes familiar and we can concentrate on the road ahead.
The same with holding a toothbrush – after we’ve used one for a while, we get into a familiar pattern. This pattern becomes a habit.
That’s fine if we get it right, but it is a real problem if we get it wrong, because, to change, we need to break the old habit. Breaking a habit is rarely easy!
So, in the beginning, if you have a lot of plaque, you have to . . .
Break your old habits and make some new ones.
