How am I doing?
...............................................................................................................................................
Well, how are you doing?
When you are trying to get better at something, it helps to have a way of monitoring it.
That’s why we use the plaque count because it’s easy to understand - (we also monitor the gums that bleed as well as using other diagnostic tools like the DIAGNOdent to monitor early dental decay).
So here’s another question:
How often should I get the dentist to look at my teeth?
Well if the ‘good enough’ plaque count is 30%, then if yours is . . .
Above 55%, come three monthly
Above 35%, come in less than six months
Below that, six months is enough – depending on how much your body reacts to the plaque (how much the gums bleed)
5% - once a year!
It’s not quite as simple as that, but you get the idea.
If
you were a statistic, you would be told that
many people only need to come to the dentist
occasionally, some statistics say once a year.
Well, maybe this is so for some people.
