Meet our team of caring professionals
Bill Whateley . . .
graduated, BDS (U. Lond), from the Royal Dental Hospital
in London in 1971 and joined a large NHS practice
in Chichester, West Sussex. In 1973, he and Peggy
went to New Zealand where he acted as locum in
four very different practices. On returning to
England he spent a further two years in Chichester
before moving to Torquay in 1980.
He left the NHS in 1988 and, in 1996, he moved to
his current practice. He has a special interest in
Restorative Dentistry, Orthopaedic/Orthodontics and
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD).
From 1994 to 1996 and 1997/98, he was Honorary Secretary
of the Pankey Association (UK) most of whose members
have attended the Pankey
Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida,
and has been a Trustee of the Association since 1996.
He is a member of the BDA,
the CranioGroup,
the International
Association for Orthodontics, the BSSCMD,
the Cornwall
IDP , the Devon IDP and the Devon Study
Club (a peer review group). He is also author of
'A
Very Special Team' (BDJ Books 1998)
and writes occasional articles on teamwork and management
topics.
Claire McGregor . . .
became a DSA in 1977. She joined Bill in 1995 and
was part of the team that started this practice.
She qualified, RDN, in 1996.
She is in the practice two days a week and works
in the surgery or in reception. She has two children,
Stuart and Helen, and is a keen horsewoman.
Claire will be happy to discuss
aspects of prescribed treatment including homecare
with you as well as appointments and fees.
Michelle Harris . . .
joined the practice in 1999 from a background in
Nursing Care. She has an NVQ Level Two qualification
in Care.
She is our full-time DSA and is a Registered Dental
Nurse (RDN), having gained the National Qualification
for Dental Surgery Assistants in 2002.
She is also an accomplished horsewoman, competing
at events around the county.
Michelle runs the surgery skillfully and will be
delighted to discuss all aspects of cross-infection
control and safety procedures with you, as well as
aspects of prescribed treatment and homecare.
Peggy Whateley . . .
graduated, BA, in European Studies from the University
of East Anglia in 1971. She was with Bill in New
Zealand in 1973-75. She has a qualification in
Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and
the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
She is conversant in German and French. In 1998,
after 25 years of marriage, she and Bill decided
they could work together to build the practice.
Peggy is our practice administrator
and is with us two days a week. She and Bill married
in 1972. They have two children, Pete and Kate.
