• The condition of the muscles of your face, your chewing muscles and the stability of your TMJ (Jaw Joint).
• The 'soft' areas inside and outside your mouth. This includes an Oral Cancer Screening.
• The health of your gums, and your vulnerability to gum and tooth problems.
• Each tooth, including the condition and stability of existing dental work and how well the teeth fit together when you bite (your occlusion). We use the DIAGNOdent laser to detect early dental decay. Depending on the situation, this can then be accurately reviewed at regular intervals, be treated with simple preventative measures or removed with air abrasion, (no drill), and replaced with a minimal tooth-coloured restoration.
• We shall take computer images of your teeth and x-rays and assess the need for further Diagnostic Procedures (for example, special x-rays and/or study models) .
• You will learn about your current condition and any areas that might need immediate attention.
• You will also have the first part of your Homecare and begin to build a Preventive Plan .
• Together, we will begin to assess your potential treatment needs in the future.
• If special x-rays or study models are required we shall make further appointments to take and discuss these.
• We feel it is important for all the above areas to be reviewed regularly, with any changes noted and corrected, as each can be affected by even small alterations in general health, lifestyle, diet, stress levels and posture.
